Jumpstart Your Game Development Skills at the EAC’s Unity Workshop

A young participant explores a virtual world while a teammate looks on during a hands-on session. Collaboration and curiosity take center stage as campers bring their ideas to life in Unity.

Looking to dip your toes into game development but don’t have time for a full course? The Emerging Analytics Center (EAC) at UA Little Rock is offering a two-day Unity Workshop designed specifically for adult learners who want to gain hands-on experience with game design in just a weekend. Scheduled for Saturday, August 16th, and Sunday, August 17th, this workshop will run for six hours each day including time for lunch and breaks.

On day one you’ll build the foundation of a simple 2d game, making it functional, even if it’s not quite pretty yet. This phase is all about usability and understanding the core structure of a Unity game. On day two you’ll polish and customize your project with features like title screens, animations, sound effects, and visual refinements. You’ll walk away with a playable game and the skills to keep building your own!

Why Unity?

Unity is a professional-grade game engine used across the industry to create 2d and 3d computer games, virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) experiences as well as interactive simulations. It is known for its user-friendly development interface, support for a wide range of platforms, and a rich asset store that makes starting your own game development easier than ever. Unity is the ideal 3d engine for both individual creators and teams.

Whether you’re curious about computer-game development, interested in interactive media, or just want to try something new, this workshop is an unhurried but high-reward opportunity to explore what Unity can do.
